Symptoms of gum disease
- Bleeding gums
- Pain when pressing, eating, drinking or talking
- Redness and darkening of the gums
- Unpleasant breath odor
If left untreated, the inflammatory process progresses, affecting the bone tissue adjacent to the teeth, leading to loosening and loss of teeth. If you notice any of the above symptoms, it is recommended to see a dentist.
Treatment at IODENT clinic
IODENT clinic offers various periodontal treatment services aimed at maintaining the health of gums and teeth.
Removal of hard and soft dental deposits
The presence of dental plaque is one of the causes of gum diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis, as well as tooth decay. Bacteria living in dental plaque release products of their life activity that irritate the gums and enamel, promoting the development of chronic inflammatory processes in the oral cavity.
Ultrasonic systems for tartar removal
This painless and effective method uses an ultrasonic scaler with a "hook" at the end, similar to that used for mechanical cleaning. The difference is that dental deposits are removed using micro-vibrations, not force. During the procedure, the teeth are moistened with water to improve the removal of plaque and protect the teeth from overheating, which prevents discomfort. Discomfort may occur only during the removal of deposits under the gums, as the root part of the tooth is more sensitive, but the doctor may suggest local anesthesia to reduce discomfort.
Aero-abrasive cleaning using the German KAVO ProphyFlex device
This device has the unique property of carrying out painless cleaning and polishing of tooth enamel without damaging it. The main advantages of KaVo ProphyFlex cleaning lie in the use of high-dispersion PROPHYpearls powder (calcium carbonate), which provides a gentler and higher quality cleaning of teeth from plaque and minimal impact on gums and neighboring teeth, making it ideal for sensitive teeth and painful gums.
Plaque removal for pregnant women and children
This method involves the use of a special glycine-based powder that is applied to the tooth surface and removes deposits. Dental plaque is dangerous to the health of gums and teeth, as it contains bacteria that can lead to gum inflammation, damage to tooth enamel and calculus. The use of glycine is safe for pregnant women and children, as it does not contain aggressive chemical compounds and does not damage tooth enamel.
Periodontal pocket curettage
Curettage is used for the prevention and treatment of periodontitis, periodontosis, and gingivitis. During these diseases, deposits accumulate on the teeth, leading to the formation of pockets.
Closed curettage is used when the depth of gum pockets does not exceed 4 mm. During the procedure, deposits and inflamed tissues are removed from the periodontal pockets using a Hu-Friedy (USA) curette and scaler, the surface of the tooth root is polished, and a healing ointment is applied, and recommendations for tooth care are given.
Open curettage is used when the depth of gum pockets reaches or exceeds 5 mm, interdental papillae are deformed, and the edges of the gums do not fit snugly against the teeth. During the procedure, the doctor detaches the mucous membrane of the gums, exposing the teeth to the roots, removes deposits and granulomas using a Hu-Friedy curette and scaler, treats the treatment site with an antibacterial agent, and applies sutures. The recovery period in this case is longer.
Root Polishing with the German Vector System
The method allows for the removal of deep plaque without the need for anesthesia and without damaging healthy tissue. The hydro-encapsulated suspension of calcium hydroxyapatite and water enables the ultrasound energy to be transmitted gently to the periodontal pockets through hydrodynamic effects, reaching a depth of up to 11 mm, almost twice as deep as previously possible, and in many cases avoiding the need for surgical intervention. During the procedure, the device simultaneously polishes the surface of the tooth using tiny particles that are part of the innovative system.
At IODENT clinic, treatment is provided by qualified professionals with extensive experience, who use modern technologies and equipment. Each patient receives an individualized approach to treatment, along with professional consultation and recommendations for oral care.
